The Peace Drum Chooses Her Own Path

Sometimes, it seems as though the Peace Drum has a will of her own.

Recently, she began her journey from Belgium to the Netherlands. She was carefully shipped with bpost, after which PostNL took over the delivery. But somewhere along the way, things went wrong. A small error in the postal code, or at least what we believe may have been the cause, meant that the Drum seemed to disappear for four days.

For four days, she travelled from one sorting centre to another, riding around in a delivery van while we wondered where she might be. In the end, she arrived safely at her destination, just one day later than planned.

A coincidence? Perhaps.

Or did the Peace Drum simply choose her own route?

Those who remember her older sister, the World Drum, may smile at that thought. She, too, often seemed to follow her own path, always appearing exactly where she was needed. It was almost as if these drums were reminding us that not everything in life can be planned or controlled.

Perhaps that is the real lesson.

Peace does not mean that everything always goes according to plan. Peace also means accepting what unfolds before us, keeping faith when the road takes an unexpected turn, and knowing that what does not happen today may still come tomorrow.

With patience, trust, and the right mindset, we can often achieve far more than through haste and the need to control every outcome.

The Peace Drum eventually reached her destination. She now continues her journey, bringing people together and sharing her message of peace, connection, and love.

Perhaps that unexpected detour was exactly the reminder we all need from time to time: sometimes, it is not the destination that carries the greatest meaning, but the journey itself.
