Keepers of the Peace Drum

19/05/2026
Over time, four elders came together to bring this vision to life. Like the four directions and the four seasons, their different strengths complemented one another and gave shape to the dream in the world.

Marga and Paolo

Paolo and Marga have shared a remarkable life journey together for 57 years, 52 of them united in love and marriage. Throughout all these years, they found each other not only as partners, but also in a shared dream: contributing to a world where love, respect, simplicity, and peace are at the center of life.

For them, the Peace Drum is a project that comes straight from the heart. A dream that slowly took shape and is now becoming reality. Building something together that connects people, transcends cultures, and brings hearts together fills them with deep gratitude and joy.

Their story began in Germany in 1969, where they first met. Paolo, originally from Sardinia, naturally carried within him the spirit of bringing different worlds together.

Their love grew beyond borders and became a living symbol of connection between people, languages, and cultures.

To see this dream now being carried forward together with their dear friend Guy, and to feel how Els also opens her heart to this vision of peace and connection, feels to them like a beautiful confirmation that the Peace Drum is finding its own path.

With open hearts, Paolo and Marga hope to meet many more beautiful souls and to share moments of connection, warmth, and peace together.

We wish everyone light, love, and peace.

Guy is the youngest of the four and first met Marga around 25 years ago at De Druïde, the special place created by Els and Steef, where over the years many people gathered around spirituality, music, connection, and warmth.

About twenty years ago, Guy also met his wife Iris there, who comes from Germany. A beautiful and sincere friendship grew between Iris and Marga, one that has remained strong to this day. Their connection always felt natural and heartfelt, as if their paths were meant to cross.

Paolo and Guy also share the same passion: building drums. For them, a drum is not merely an instrument, but a living force that brings people together, carries stories, and connects hearts. When Marga shared her dream about the Peace Drum and asked for help organizing a drum circle, Guy immediately felt that this was something special. Very few words were needed for him to join from the heart and help carry this project forward.

The fact that Els is also putting her energy and love into this initiative makes it even more meaningful. In this way, De Druïde once again seems to become a place where dreams are allowed to grow — a spiritual nest that has already brought so many people together and now sends another new seed of peace, connection, and love into the world.

Els

Els has been the guardian of De Druïde for many years, a remarkable place that over more than sixty years grew into a warm and spiritual home for countless people from all over the world.

Over time, people from many different cultures and traditions found their way there ,from Mexican Maya elders and Native Americans to Māori elders and many other spiritual travelers.

De Druïde became an international meeting place where wisdom, connection, and respect for the Earth were at the center.

Many received inspiration, insights, and life teachings there, carried by the warm presence of Steef and Els. Together, they created a space where people could be themselves, where stories were shared around the fire, and where spirituality could be experienced in a simple and sincere way.

When Steef passed away, Els chose, out of love and dedication, to continue carrying the spirit of this special place forward. With an open heart, she continued to welcome people and keep the energy of De Druïde alive.

When she was asked to contribute to the Peace Drum project, Els immediately felt enthusiasm and recognition. For her, the vision of the Peace Drum perfectly aligns with everything De Druïde has stood for over the past decades: connection, peace, respect, and coming together from the heart.

That the welcoming ceremony and initiation of the Peace Drum may take place in the powerful Druïde Forest (Het Druïdebos) feels almost self-evident, as if this place has been waiting all these years for this new chapter of connection and peace.
